Biography

Gloria Gill Napangardi was born in 1975 in Derby, Western Australia. She spent her early years in Balgo, an isolated Aboriginal community in Western Australia, connected to both the Great Sandy Desert and the Tanami Desert and an eleven-hour drive from Alice Springs. She has one sister and three brothers living in Lake Gregory, Tanami, WA and Gympie, Queensland.

She started painting at Warlukurlangu Center in 2010. She enjoys painting her grandfather's stories, especially the dream of the Lappi Lappi, which relates to her grandfather's territory near Lake Hazlett in the north west of Lake Mackay. She represents in her works the plants and animals that inhabit it. Gloria likes to work with color and very graphic shapes. When she is not painting, she visits her family in Balgo.
