Biography

Originally from Utopia, north-east of Alice Springs, Lilly Sandover Kngwarreye belongs to the group of Anmatyere women artists who became famous in the 1970s for their production of batik - the printing of pictorial motifs on silk. She herself first distinguished herself in this practice before reproducing on canvas the Dreamtime themes of which she was the repository.
