Biography

Patricia Olfield Nakamarra, born in 1982, is from Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs, where she has lived most of her life. 

Patricia Olfield Nakamarra is the daughter of two Warlukurlangu painters and is married to Sebastian Roberston Jangala, a painter with whom she has adopted a baby boy named Favian. She and her husband are actively involved in the Jaru Pirrjirdi Youth Development programme, which is part of the Yuendumu Youth Program, which offers mentoring assignments to help young Warlpiri develop their personal and professional projects.

Patricia Olfield Nakamarra joined the Warlukurlangu art centre in 2001. She transposes stories that are closely associated with her territory, in particular the Warna Jukurrpa (the dream of the snake) passed down to her by her father and grandfather.
