Biography

Teranie Nangala Williams hails from Yuendumu in the Central Desert. This artist has inherited the mythical history of the place where the bush tomato, known as wanakiji, grows. These plants have purple flowers and small green fruits. The fruit can be eaten raw or cooked. The site where these fruits are harvested is called Yaturlu and is located near Mount Theo to the north of Yuendumu. In making this painting, the artist is doing something similar. She is encouraging the bush tomatoes to grow, while at the same time providing an aerial view of her sacred site.
