Biography

Warlimpirrnga TJAPALTJARRI was born and spent his childhood near Lake Mackay, in Australia's Western Desert. He and his people first came into contact with white people and Western civilisation in 1984. Until then, they had lived a nomadic life, like their Aboriginal ancestors since the dawn of time. Stéphane Jacob runs the gallery Arts d'Australie - Stéphane Jacob. Expert in Aboriginal Art (C.N.E.S.), co-author of the catalogue of Aboriginal paintings in the collections of the Musée des Confluences in Lyon and of the book "La peinture aborigène" published by Editions Scala. He is a signatory of the Australian Indigenous Art Code, and has been working since 1996 to promote contemporary Australian Aboriginal art and artists.
