This “wunda” shield comes from western Australia, tribes living between the Gascoyne and Murchinson rivers. It is so called because the term “wunda” is a derivative of the term “wunrnda”, which refers to the wood from which it was made.

The lines engraved on the shield have two main motifs. The lines of the upper and lower parts of the shield are called pandal. They stretch in the axis of the shield. The central part is decorated with almost horizontal lines, forming the pattern called pangkurda.
