Originally from Yuendumu in the Central Desert, Maggie evokes here the Dream linked to the Ancestor Opposum. A woman had given him her two daughters in marriage, but later decided to run away with them. The Ancestor was furious and set off to find them, killing them with a stone axe. Their bodies were transformed into the rocks that can still be seen today.

This highly graphic painting takes up the ancestral motifs of the Warlpiri group: the concentric circles represent, seen from the sky, the tree trunks in which the possums shelter during the day, while the ‘E’ motifs spread across the canvas represent possum paw prints.
