Manini is a member of the Yirrkala community. The particularity of the artists at this art centre is that they reproduce motifs that combine subjects treated realistically with geometric patterns of clan and ritual value that they call dhulang. Their function is to sacralise the support and the forms reproduced on the trunks, while symbolising the vital force that emanates from them. On this pole, Manini chose to celebrate Garraparra, an area where there is a sacred burial site linked to a founding legend for her people.
