As a colourful celebration of the clan territory from which Eubena Nampitjin hails, this artwork is highly representative of the pictorial lyricism of this leading artist from the Balgo community, who has been painting since 1986 and quickly attracted attention for the force emanating from her works.

As is often the case with Aboriginal painters, her work is first and foremost a celebration of a place, of which she evokes, as here, the hills and ravines, but also the living 'heart': a watering hole represented by a circle in the middle of the canvas.

But for her, the colours of the Australian soil, blossoming in the sun, always bear witness to a power - that of a seemingly barren but profoundly fertile land that harbours waterholes and provides nourishing resources - the bush tucker, symbolised here by the oblong shapes radiating around the central waterhole.
