Originally from Yuendumu in the Great Central Desert, Geraldine Granites Napangardi's work evokes the Dream of Mina Mina, which belongs to the Napangardi and Napanangka women, two female clans in the Warlpiri family group.

The snake vine is often depicted in contemporary paintings with curved lines, and has great ceremonial significance for the Warlpiri. This vine is used to make straps to help carry wooden water and food holders. Above all, this vine, to which a legend - or Dream - is linked, is associated with initiation ceremonies for young men. In order to preserve their environment, the family groups who are custodians of this Dream and the many secrets it contains are responsible for celebrating it continually.
