Evelyn Robertson Nangala depicts the Dream of Water, which begins its course at the site of Puyurnu, to the west of Yuendumu. Generally, the riverbed is drained, creating marshes or natural water wells known as 'mulju'. The owners of this site are the women of the Nangala/Nampijinpa communities and the men of the Jangala/Jampijinpa communities. In order to bring rain to the region, two rainmakers organised a ceremony that unleashed a powerful tornado. In Aboriginal cosmology, tornadoes have the ability to move with Dreamtime stories, religious stories representing the topographical features of the landscape in aerial view.
