In this painting, Shanna Williams evokes the Dream of Water. Legend has it that in the Dreamtime, an Ancestor from north-west Yuendumu went to Mikanji and unleashed a huge storm. Two old blind women raised their eyes to the sky and began to cry, creating the rain. For the Aborigines, their spirits are still present in this place in the form of two trees (red gum trees) that can be seen near the marshes.
The artist has chosen to represent this legend simply by painting swamps seen from the sky, which are the result of the rains.
