Konstantina, whose real name is Kate Constantine, is a contemporary Aboriginal artist descended from the Gadigal people. Her work tells the true story of her people. She is passionate about her language, culture and history, much of which has been lost since colonisation. She is actively involved in revitalising the Gadigal language, working with the University of Sydney, for example, to revive the original language of the Eora Nation. In effect, she is re-imagining the traditions of her people's painters and offering a modern narrative that enables all Australians to better understand that Aborigines are an integral part of the Australian fabric.

With the Rock Carvings series, Konstantina pays homage to the oldest form of artistic practice linked to Aboriginal culture, the ancestral tradition of rock carving. This practice extends across the whole of Australia and dates back more than 40,000 years. These engravings detailed celestial maps, sustainable fishing practices and spiritual concepts, constituting some of the earliest examples of Aboriginal art in the country.

You get the impression that you're touching a tiny part of a past that is sometimes difficult to see today.
