The work could represent a delivery scene. The dark lines represent the puzzles or "nulla nulla" that the women carried with them, which are themselves symbolised by the 'U' shapes at their ends.

The red circles are wild grapes that the women fed on during their wanderings. The crescent shapes with black lines are the skirts - nyimparra - woven by the ancestors.

Finally, the central red shape represents the genitals seen in cross section.

The palette is limited to black, white and red, which dominates, symbolising the female blood spilled during childbirth.

The red shows the profoundly vitalist character of the artist's inspiration, who, by celebrating a birth, also pays homage to the continuous creation that is the Dreamtime and thus contributes to its permanence. Ningura mixes temporalities between the mythical past and the present.
