Originally from Yuendumu in the Central Desert, Elsie Moore Nampijinpa's work evokes the Dream of watiya-warnu. This dream belongs to the clan of Nampijinpa/Nangala women and Jampijinpa/Jangala men.
Watiya-warnu, also known as acacia, is a shrub endemic to Australia. This Dreaming tells the story of a Jangala ancestor who collects seeds from this plant on the hills of Mount Liebig, Yamunturrngu. Once he has collected the seeds, he places them in parrajas, which are wooden picking baskets, to return to his village. Some of the seeds are then sown in shelters protected from the wind, while others are used to make a remedy to cure stomach aches. The artist chose to use coloured dots to represent the seeds. The concentric circles can evoke sacred gathering sites or wooden baskets. Using an aerial vision, she creates a kind of geographical map of this Dream.
