Rugby Art
To mark the launch of the Rugby World Cup, Geoffroy Boulard and the Mairie du 17e, Paris, are hosting an original exhibition celebrating the fusion of two exciting worlds: Art and Rugby, presented by the association Culture, Art et Sports and the Acapulco agency and sponsored by Abdelatif Benazzi, vice-president of the French Rugby Federation.
This exhibition of art and trials, which will run from 08 to 30 September 2023 in the hall of the town hall, brings together more than 200 works by international artists. The gallery Arts d'Australie - Stéphane Jacob is proud to present the work of Christopher Croft.
A native of Melbourne and himself a former rugby player, Christopher Croft has created an exceptional series in tribute to the world of rugby. His work 'Rug (By)' depicts the Wallabies taking on the French team. Seen from the sky, the match takes on a very special dimension. With a sense of humour that in no way excludes a concern for formal perfection, he evokes a scrum that has become the central motif of a Persian rug, and instead of the usual antelopes and tigers, crampons, shoes and other protective gear unfurl their frieze around the players.
