Yallaroo
15 May - 30 September 2025
Arts d'Australie • Stéphane Jacob presents ‘Yallaroo’, a group exhibition of Aboriginal art paying tribute to the transformation of the Australian desert after the rainy season. ‘Yallaroo’, meaning “beautiful flowers” in the Aboriginal language, captures the essence of this rebirth. The works celebrate the changing colours, from brown to bursts of yellow, red and purple flowers, symbolising the resilience and renewal of the land. Through ancestral motifs, the artists emphasise the spiritual connection between nature, ancestors and new-found life, drawn from the Dreamtime*.
*Dreamtime is a fundamental concept in Australian Aboriginal spirituality. It refers both to an original mythological period, when creative ancestors shaped the land, animals and natural laws, and to a timeless state in which these events continue to influence the present. This concept links Aboriginal people to their land and traditions, as every element of the natural world is perceived as being imbued with the spirit of the ancestors. The Dreamtime is thus a sacred dimension, where history, culture and nature meet and are perpetuated through the generations.
