Biography
Originally from Western Australia, the artist celebrates here the peregrinations accomplished in Dreamtime by the ancestors of his clan: the Tingari-Men. The Tingari are a group of mythical figures who moved across the entire Australian continent during the Time of Creation, shaping certain sacred sites. Their movements are perpetuated in many songs still used today for initiation. They, accompanied by their wives and apprentices, traveled the Great Australian Desert founding sacred sites at each stage of a labyrinthine journey which is found in the particularly modern work of Tim Payungka.
