Like the vast majority of women in the Ernabella community, Tjunkaya Tapaya began painting on batik. An exceptional artist, she excels in every field: painting, sculpture and engraving.

With this ceramic, she represents the Dream of the Seven Sisters, embodied by seven stars also known as the Pleiades.

The Pleiades are seven women from the Napaljarri clan, often depicted carrying a Jampijinpa man who is in love with them. But another individual from the Jakamarra group, personified by the Morning Star, is also in love with them and is usually depicted chasing them across the sky. To escape this man, the Seven Sisters transformed themselves into flames and ascended into the sky to become stars.
