Originally from Yuendumu in the central Australian desert, Sabrina Granites' work evokes the Dream of Mina Mina, which belongs to the Napangardi and Napanangka women, two female clans of the Warlpiri group. 

This episode took place at the mythical time of the creation of the world, in the sacred region of Mina Mina, to the west of Yuendumu. Ancestral women of all ages had gone to gather ngalyipi, or 'snake vine', a type of vine used as a cord to hang bags over the shoulders or as a remedy for headaches. While these women were celebrating ceremonies, some digging sticks (karla-ngu) emerged from the ground. They grabbed them and continued their wanderings, dancing and creating sacred sites - rocks, waterholes, etc. - throughout their mythical journey. - all the way to far-off Queensland.

The story of this Dreaming - or Jukurrpa - associated with this plant is passed on to young men during initiation ceremonies.
