Aboriginal painter Yalti Napangati describes a legend in which women gathered at a sacred site to make nosebones.
Indeed, before the arrival of settlers, it was common for both men and women to wear them. Today, only the elders wear them for ceremonies.
The various shapes applied to the canva by the artist elegantly represent the site's surroundings as seen from the air, as well as the various bays to be found there, and the female ancestors symbolized by the "U" shapes.
