Wanatjura Lewis is an artist from the Amata community, located on APY land (Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara) in the north-west of South Australia. Here, Wanatjura Lewis depicts his native territory from the air, representing the variations in the local rolling landscape. The dotted pink background represents the ochre-coloured earth of the Australian soil. This is criss-crossed by mountains, symbolised by the green serpentine tracks, which also show the paths taken by the local population. Finally, the concentric circles represent the waterholes that dot the landscape.
