A major painter, Ningura was one of the artists chosen to decorate the ceilings of the musée du quai Branly. Her zebra ceiling can be seen on the 1st floor of the building overlooking the rue de l'Université.
Like other Aborigines forcibly regrouped in Papunya, Ningura was later able to settle 100 km away in Kintore (population 350), on her ancestral territory. Ningura favours simple, clear motifs, inspired by body painting, which she treats with a limited palette of black, red, ochre and white.
Here, she depicts an ancestral woman giving birth at a mythological watering hole. Ningura's work is highly sensitive to its graphic and vibratory strength.
