This work was used as a model for the terrace of the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco (670 m2). It represents the mating season for turtles.
The turtle is surrounded by motifs illustrating the life cycle of its fellow turtles. Their journey begins as soon as they hatch, when they are chased to the sea by predators (pigs, monitor lizards, birds). Once in the water, they are hunted by crocodiles and fish. When they reach adulthood, fishermen's nets and the plastic they ingest pose a new threat.
The waves in this engraving symbolise the ocean currents they follow to move around.
