Originally from the Kimberley region, Clarrie Djanghara's work is inspired by the "silhouettes" of primitive deities painted on the walls of sacred caves in prehistoric times.
This is the Wandjina who lives among the spirits in the Dreamtime, having created them. The Ugula, represented with his hands, flies and eats bush tucker and wallabies.
There are stick men, also known as stake men. Pieces of the images are missing, as in rock art, having been washed away by the rain.
